- Mentha requenii. (Corsican Mint)
Mentha requenii. (Corsican Mint)
This mint is ever popular known by various names its creeping habit creates a matt of heavenly scented green which has the most tiny purple flowers in summer.
A must have for the scent alone. Likes full sun or part shade in a moist but not wet soil. The mint is tolerant to some foot traffic so is wonderful in the cracks in paving or by the edges of paths to really appreciate the smell.
Will also grow in beds borders and containers.
Plant near a seat or window or in a sensory garden. Or where you kneel when weeding. A tip of mine from experience plant mints, camomile's, marjoram's etc around the beds not only do they help with pest control and offer nectar for bees and butterflies but when tending to the garden you disturb the scents which makes such tastes a treat.
Plants will be shipped in a 7cmpot. Upon arrival unpack and water place in a cool semi shady spot to allow to recover from shipping. After a day or two these can be planted out. Dig a hole the size of the pot and fill with water. Sprinkle a handful of slow release food granules into the hole (this is optional but will give the plants an added boost and can be purchased with your order) soak the plant pot and remove the whole plant and its soil in one place directly into the hole back firm and firm in well to ensure their are no air pockets. Water in. Should the weather be hot during planting further watering may be necessary. Otherwise simply enjoy and trim back old flowers head once they have gone over.
