Crocosmia 'George Davidson'. (Falling Stars)
Crocosmia are perennials that flower late summer & autumn, they have tall grass like leaves that emerge in spring and summer growing to around 40 cm tall. From the base emerges flower spikes that hold numerous trumpet like flowers. They have a long flowering season from late summer through autumn. After flowering these revert back below ground for the winter and spring before starting the cycle again. Multiply year by year excellent as they offer colour when the summer flowers pass.
Low maintenance and easy to grow best in full sun mid border or containers.
George Davidson has green leaves and rich orange yellow flowers that come out in August and continue through September. Bold and easy to grow in full sun or part shade. Minimal care needed. Bulk up to form a nice clump but not invasive.
Plants will be shipped in a 9cm pot. Upon arrival unpack and water place in a cool semi shady spot to allow to recover from shipping. After a day or two these can be planted out. Dig a hole the size of the pot and fill with water. Sprinkle a handful of slow release food granules into the hole (this is optional but will give the plants an added boost and can be purchased with your order) soak the plant pot and remove the whole plant and its soil in one place directly into the hole back firm and firm in well to ensure their are no air pockets. Water in. Should the weather be hot during planting further watering may be necessary. Otherwise simply enjoy and trim back old flowers head once they have gone over.
