Mirabilis jalapa 'Broken Colours'. (Four 'o' Clock Flower)
Mirabilis are fantastic plants they are low maintenance and have gorgeous tropical looking flowers that open in the day and close at night. They have a gorgeous scent that wafts around the garden. The blooms are called broken colours as they each have a different pattern and mixture or pink white and yellow. Examples in the photos.
These overwinter as just roots and emerge through spring and summer to flower in late summer autumn outdoors earlier if kept under glass. These grow to around 80cm tall and wide over 2-3 years and work well in beds and borders. Will grow in large containers and in the greenhouse as well. These will flower in the first year but grow in size year after year and do there best display after a couple.
Very drought tolerant and coastal tolerant. Best in a sunny sheltered spot.
Grow well from seed so if you wish to increase your stock collect and sow the seeds under glass in spring.
Comes in a 9cm pot. These are shipped out in spring and summer. Ready to be planted. Best in full sun in free draining soil.
