Fragraria vesca. (Alpine Strawberry)
Strawberries can be grown in the ground, in containers and in baskets. They need little care and attention and provide a long harvest season.
Perfect no matter what size you have.
Hardy plants.
Who doesn't love fresh strawberries. This is a fantastic way to start growing your own or add to your collection.
These are considered the wild strawberry, the fruits are smaller, yet the taste is fantastic and beats any 'normal' strawberry. They will grow in the ground or walls, containers and baskets. Begin fruiting in early summer and see right through till autumn, easily offering daily harvests. We grow them in walls as they create a productive plant where other plants may not be happy.
They do enter dormancy in winter and lose their leaves. Are hardy and will grow in sun or shade.
Fantastic easy reliable crop that needs little to no care other than eating. Fruits can be eaten fresh and once you've tried one, just try not to. Or can be used in deserts, drinks and jams.
Weve made, pies, crumbles, traybakes, smoothies, ice-creams, cheesecakes and even gin!.
