Chives as they are more commonly known are a hardy perennial they have green tubular leaves which can be trimmed and eaten in soups & salads or used as a dressing. Add it to scrambled egg or jacket potato for a little something extra.
The flowers can also be eaten and look gorgeous in salads or as a dressing. These flowers are also loved by bees adding a second valuable use to this plant.
The plants are hardy have proven themselves to all that has been thrown at them here, they are perennial so die back in winter but are usable spring through autumn. Can be grown indoors for winter picking.
Best in full sun or part shade in most soils. Even exposed conditions. Can be container grown. Summer height 40cm. Clump forming.
Comes in 9cm pot. Water well until established then will look after itself. May need feeding over the summer if container grown.
