Fagus sylvatica (Beech tree)
Beech trees (Fagus sylvatica) are grown for the magnificent foliage of delicate fluttery leaves with wavy edges. The leaves begin with a subtle golden-green before becoming brighter and finally, a stunning coppery colour in autumn.
Suitable for normal, clay and chalk soils, planted in full sun to semi shade and inland, coastal or exposed sites
Fast growing, expect 30-60cm per year
Comes in litre pot approximately 20cm tall
can be pruned to keep small or allowed to grow to full size.
Fantastic hedging shrub if kept in trim the leaves hold for most of the winter
