Iris 'Black Form'
Iris chrysographes 'Black Form' is a stunning Black Iris and although the flowers are actually a very deep purple this hardy perennial comes very close to being truly black. The exotic and fragrant flowers are perfectly contrast by the narrow, bright green leaves. Perfect for planting in poorly draining, boggy grown, will grow in well draining soil as long as its moist and not left to dry out.
Iris takes its name from the Greek word for Rainbow, referring to the wide variety of colours that they are available in. There are over 300 species in the genus Iris, and they are much loved by many gardeners due to the colourful displays they create and the elegance of the flowers. They also make excellent cut flowers.
Comes potted in a litre pot
Upon arrival unpack and water place in a cool semi shady spot to allow to recover from shipping. After a day or two these can be planted out. Dig a hole the size of the pot and fill with water. Sprinkle a handful of slow release food granules into the hole (this is optional but will give the plants an added boost and can be purchased with your order) soak the plant pot and remove the whole plant and its soil in one place directly into the hole back firm and firm in well to ensure their are no air pockets. Water in. Should the weather be hot during planting further watering may be necessary. Otherwise simply enjoy and trim back old flowers head once they have gone over.
