Saxifrage urbium. (London's Pride)
Saxifrage come in many shapes and forms urbium commonly known as londons pride has rich green semi-evergreen rosettes of leaves which multiply by shoots over time creating a mat or swathe.
The flowers grow on delicate red stems and are small but come in mass creating a haze when in flower of pinky white. The flowers when viewed closely are delightful little spotted stars.
These plants are one of the truly hardy succulents withstanding damp, drought, frost, snow and winds. Will grow in pots but are best in the ground.
Often seen around ponds and streams as they enjoy the marginal atmosphere but also happy in beds and borders. Grow in mass for best impact these do multiply year by year so over time will create a fantastic drift effect.
Grows in full sun or part shade in all soil types & exposures. Suitable for exposed & coastal gardens as well as inland/sheltered.
Spring flowering.
Plants will be shipped in the pot size selected. Upon arrival unpack and water place in a cool semi shady spot to allow to recover from shipping. After a day or two these can be planted out. Dig a hole the size of the pot and fill with water. Sprinkle a handful of slow release food granules into the hole (this is optional but will give the plants an added boost and can be purchased with your order) soak the plant pot and remove the whole plant and its soil in one place directly into the hole back firm and firm in well to ensure their are no air pockets. Water in. Should the weather be hot during planting further watering may be necessary. Otherwise simply enjoy and trim back old flowers head once they have gone over.
Will pot grow but will not reach the full size but will still flower.
