Saxifraga stolinifera. (Creeping Saxifrage)
Saxifrage contain many cultivars and are usually hardy alpines & ground covers with delicate flowers.
Stolonifera is a beautiful plant not often seen for sale and we do not know why. It has rounded green veined white leaves that grow a cm or so off the ground multiplying to create a carpet effect. Grows well in full sun or part shade in free draining soil. The flowers are unusual and curious two long pointed white lower petals and 3 pink topped top ones with a beautiful orange centre.
An excellent addition to any garden.
Will grow in beds and borders, walls and rockeries and containers. Needs minimal soil depth.
We have been growing this for years and it has proven itself it be frost and snow hardy (to at least minus 10) rain and wind and drought tolerant.
Excellent weed suppressant.
Upon arrival unpack and water place in a cool semi shady spot to allow to recover from shipping. After a day or two these can be planted out. Dig a hole the size of the pot and fill with water. Sprinkle a handful of slow release food granules into the hole (this is optional but will give the plants an added boost and can be purchased with your order) soak the plant pot and remove the whole plant and its soil in one place directly into the hole back firm and firm in well to ensure their are no air pockets. Water in. Should the weather be hot during planting further watering may be necessary. Otherwise simply enjoy and trim back old flowers head once they have gone over.
